2007 – Oradea, Romania

I’ve been asked to tell 7 wonders about Romania. Here are five, I can’t think of more…
1. Connected to the photo above, Romanian fancy cakes are the best. Not too thick, not too greasy, not too syrupy, but delicious with natural tastes, and consistent and light at the same time.
2. Oradea, my hometown. A bijou. Always sparkling, always renewing. Always welcoming me home. Always full with well known streets to rediscover.
3. The musical Romanian language. The unforgettable first sentences at the railway station after staying abroad for more weeks (/months).
4. The Carpathians. They have a particular atmosphere I cannot describe…
5. Orthodoxes keep fast 3 times a year. During these periods stores have even more vegetarian food which are labeled “de post”. They even put these red labels on chocolates. 🙂
